TAMPA, Fla. -- Rhode Island sits in a tie for 21st place overall at the 2010 USF Invitational, held at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (par 72 - 7153 yards).
Due to darkness, the Rams did not complete their first round, playing their final three holes on Saturday morning. Rhode Island compiled a total of 302 in the first round of play.
Branden Chicorka led the Rams with a 2-over 74 in round one. He fired off an even-par 36 through the front nine, collecting two birdies along the way. Taylor Fontaine followed up with a 3-over 75, while Patrick Pelletier was 4-over (76). Bill McDonald (+5, 77) and Ben Conway (+7, 79) rounded out the Rhody golfers.
In round two, Conway posted the lowest round of the day for URI, with a 1-over par 73. He carded three consecutive birdies on the front nine. Pelletier followed up with a second round 76 (+4), while McDonald posted a second consecutive round of 77 (+5).
Fontaine (+7, 79) and Chicorka (+11, 83) finished the scoring for Rams - a total of 305.
After the first 36 holes have been completed, Pelletier (76-76=152) and Conway (79+73=152) are tied for 79th place overall, while McDonald (77-77=154) and Fontaine (75-79=154) are tied at 96th. Chicorka is tied for 105th (74-83=157).
The third and final round will be contested on Sunday, March 7.
