Rhody Sweeps Past Quinnipiac, 3-0

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Senior Lauren McIntosh and freshman Britta Baarstad each totaled nine kills apiece to lead the Rhode Island women's volleyball team (2-2) past Quinnipiac Friday night in the first day of the Yale Invitational.

McIntosh and Baarstad posted hitting percentages of .615 and 438, respectively. Sophomore Annie Nelson also chipped in offensively with a match-high 32 assists.

Defensively, Rhody held a 53-36 advantage in digs. Junior Kayla Wilson led the way with nine digs.

Rhody claimed a 25-20 victory in the first set to take a 1-0 lead. In the second frame, URI outhit the Bobcats .235-.000 and posted a 25-18 triumph. The Rams closed out QU in the third set with a 25-16 win.

The Rams return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Stony Brook for their first game. In the nightcap, URI will take on tournament host Yale, beginning at 7 p.m.
