What It Means:
Rhode Island drops to 0-2 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. The Runnin' Rams have also posted back-to-back 90-point performances since the 2009-10 season. URI closes out its three-game road swing to start the year on Sunday at Nebraska.
Inside the Box Score and Beyond:
* Two URI players - Jamal Wilson (24) and Nikola Malesevic(22) - cracked the 20-point mark. it was the first time two Rhody players had 20 or more points in a game since Jan. 16, 2010 (Cothran 26; Ulmer 24 at Fordham)
* It was the first time Rhody yielded 100 points in a game since Nov. 16, 2006, when Houston scored 102 points in an overtime game at the Ryan Center.
* Freshman Mike Powell connected on three 3-pointers on the game, including a bank-shot trey in which he was fouled. The frosh point guard did not convert the traditional four-point play.
* Rhody was cold from the foul line in the first half, connecting on just 6-of-15 (40.0%). The second half was a marked improvement from the charity stripe, as they went 13-for-17 (76.5%). In total, Rhode Island attempted 32 foul shots.
* Texas also had plenty of practice from the foul like, taking 44 one-pointers. They made 35 of them. It tied the Rhody record for most free throw attempts by an opponent in a single game. Syracuse also attempted 44 freebies on Nov. 30, 2003.
* With Wilson's 24 points, he maintains his 30+ point average for the season (31.0).
* For the second straight game, Rhody had more turnovers than assists (10 assists/15 turns). For the season, the Runnin' Rams' assist/turnover ratio is on the negative side - 23 assists to 34 miscues.
* There were 53 fouls whistled in today's game. Rhody is averaging 28.5 fouls per game over its first two contests.
* Four starters reached double-figures - the second time in as many games this year that the team has had at least four players with 10 or more points.
* Nikola Malesevic was 3-for-6 from the perimeter, marking the seventh time in his career that he had three or more 3-pointers in a single game.
