What It Means:
Rhode Island dropped to 1-5 on the season with a 67-45 loss to Cleveland State in the final game of the TicketCity Legends Classic. The 1-5 mark is the worst start for the Rams since the 2004-05 season.
Inside the Box Score and Beyond:
* Orion Outerbridge posted his sixth straight double-digit scoring game to start the season, tallying 12 points. The 6-9 center had one of his worst shooting nights of the young season, connecting on just 6-of-14 from the floor. He also led the Rams in rebounding (7) and blocked shots (3).
* Outerbridge was named to the Legends Classic Subregional All-Tournament team, along with Hofstra's Mike Moore, BU's Darryl Partin, and Cleveland State's D'Aundray Brown. Aaron Pogue of CSU was named Subregional MVP.
* Rhody was cold from the outside, missing all eight of its 3-point attempts. The last time URI went oh-fer from the outside was Nov. 23, 2004 when they dropped a 67-58 decision at Manhattan.
* Cleveland State's pressure defense forced 21 Ram turnovers - 17 of which came in the first half. The Vikings earned 26 points off of turnovers.
*Anthony Malhoit grabbed six rebounds in 17 minutes. So far in three games, he has come off the bench to grab 11 rebounds in three appearances. He is averaging 3.7 boards in 11.0 minutes of play.
* The 22-point deficit on the afternoon tied for the third largest margin of defeat at home for Rhode Island.
* Rhode Island's 45 points were its lowest total since last season - vs. Xavier, Jan. 9, 2011.
What's Next:
The Runnin' Rams travel to Providence to take on Brown in the 153rd meeting between the two schools. Brown is URI's most-common opponent.
