Football: Rhode Island 24, William & Mary 21 - FINAL

How It Happened:

A 27-yard field goal by senior Louis Feinstein with 1:39 remaining capped a fourth quarter comeback by Rhode Island (3-6, 2-4 CAA) Saturday.

The Rams scored 17 points in the quarter, which saw three lead changes. Rhody trailed 13-7 entering the quarter, but senior fullback Chris Mancuso rumbled in from 2 yards out to put the Rams up 14-13 with 10:35 to go.

William & Mary (4-5, 2-4 CAA) came right back with a touchdown when Brent Caprio hit tight end Nolan Kearney with a 5-yard touchdown pass with 7:45 to go. A two-point conversion gave the Tribe a 21-14 lead.

Rhody scored again little more than two minutes later on a 16-yard scoring strike from quarterback Bob Bentsen to Ty Bynum.

On William & Mary's ensuing possession, the defense came up big. After holding to a three-and-out, A blocked punt by freshman Andrew Bose - URI's second block of the game - set the Rams up at William & Mary's 26-yard line for the game-winning drive.

Inside the Box Score and Beyond:

* Defensive linemen Willie McGinnis and Matt Rae clogged the middle for the Rams. The seniors combined for 18 tackles, and McGinnis added a forced fumble.

* Rhody got to Brent Caprio for five sacks, with six players getting in on the act. Dave Zocco, Doug Johnson, Manee Williams and James Timmins each had one, while McGinnis and Josh Moody combined on one.

* Eight different Rams carried the ball on offense. With the backfield short on depth, Billy Morgan - normally a wide receiver - had team highs with 15 carries and 38 yards. The backfield by committee combined for 120 yards on 43 carries.

* Rhode Island's special teams had a big game. In addition to Feinstein's game-winning field goal, the Rams blocked two punts - one by Dave Zocco and one by Andrew Bose. Kick returner Brandon Johnson-Farrell provided strong field position throughout the game, averaging 29 yards per return on four returns.
