Round 1 and 2 Results
GRASONVILLE, Md. -- After two round of play, Rhode Island sits in third place at the Fireline Towson Invitational, played at the Prospect Bay Country Club (par 72-6,6761 yards).
The Rams totaled 605 strokes through the first two rounds of play, shooting a 307 during the morning round and 298 in the final 18 holes of the day.
John Kelly and Patrick Pelletier lead the Rams, with both golfers tied for 21st place overall with a two-round score of 152.
Kelly carded rounds of 77 and 75 on Saturday's 36-hole, two-round day of competition. Pelletier registered a 78 and 74 on the scorecard in his first two rounds of play.
Branden Chicorka and Taylor Fontaine are tied for 26th place, one stroke behind their teammates at 153. After an opening round 82, Chicorka fired a 1-under 71 on Saturday afternoon. That was the lowest single-round score by any Rhody player in the tournament. Fontaine carded a 75 and 78 in his first day of play.
Andrew Fiorenzano rounds out the Rhody golfers, sitting in a tie for 73rd place (77-87=164).
Kent State's John Hahn sits atop the leaderboard, at 2-under (71-71=142). His Golden Flashes also lead the team competition, with a total of 581 (296=285). Host Towson sits in second place, just three strokes ahead of URI.
The third and final round of the tournament takes place on Sunday, March 27.
