Day One Results
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Rhode Island sits in eighth place after the first round of play at the Navy Spring Golf Invitational. The tournament is being contested at the Naval Academy Golf Course (par 71; 6,528 yards).
The first round was contested under adverse weather conditions - with a steady rain and wind gusts of up to 50 MPH.
The Rams totaled 317 strokes during day one action. Andrew Fiorenzano is the teams top golfer through 18 holes. The freshman is sitting in a tie for 25th place after a round of 78 (37-41).
Taylor Fontaine sits in a tie for 33rd place, one stroke behind with a score of 79 (38-41). John Kelly (40-40) and Patrick Pelletier (39-41) are tied for 41st, each carding an opening round 80. David Gosselin rounds out the Rhody golfers in a tie for 50th place, with a score of 81 (43-38).
TCU and Columbia are tied atop the team leaderboard, each posting a score of 302. The top eight teams are separated by a span of 15 strokes. Columbia's Clark Granum and Drexel's James Braunsberg are tied for the individual lead, as both golfers registered an opening round score of 73.
Play in the Navy Spring Invitational continues on Sunday morning.
