Rams Sit in Second Place at New England D-I Championship

Day One Results

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Rhode Island sits in second place - five strokes off the lead - after day one of the New England Division I Championship, held at the Newport National G.C. (par 72/7,244 yards).

The Rams totaled 300 strokes during Saturday's first round of play. Rhody is led by John Kelly's 1-over 73. He is currently tied for third place overall.

Patrick Pelletier is tied for 11th place, carding a first round 75. Teammates Andrew Fiorenzano and Taylor Fontaine sit in a tie for 13th place, one stroke behind, with a first day score of 76.

Branden Chicorka rounds out the Rhode Island golfers in a tie for 44th place (81).

Sacred Heart sits atop the team leaderboard, with a score of 295. SHU's David Renski is the top individual so far, carding a 1-under 71.

The final day of competition at the New England Division I Championship takes place on Sunday, April 10.
