RHODE ISLAND VS. COAST GUARD - ALL-TIME SERIES
- This marks the 25th time that Rhode Island and Coast Guard have met on the hardwood.
- Rhody holds a 20-4 advantage in the all-time series.
- The Bears are the Rams' 18th most-common opponent.
- The two teams first met on Dec. 5, 1925, with head coach Frank Keaney's squad earning a 35-29 victory at Rodman Hall.
- Because of the proximity of the two campuses - Kingston and New London, Conn. - URI and the USCGA met every season from 1925-36 and 1945-49.
RHODE ISLAND WELCOMES THE START OF THE DAN HURLEY ERA
- On March 21, Rhode Island introduced Dan Hurley as the 19th head coach in program history.
- ESPN.com, CBSSports.com, and Athlon Sports all ranked the move as one of the top offseason hires in the country.
- Hurley came to Kingston after two successful seasons at Wagner College in Staten Island.
- He guided Wagner to a school-record 25 wins and a 15-3 mark in Northeast Conference play in 2011-12.
- In two seasons with the Seahawks, he compiled a 38-23 overall record.
- Hurley spent nine seasons as the head coach at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J., compiling a 223-21 record.
HARE NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-ROOKIE TEAM; ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON POLL
- Freshman forward Jordan Hare was named to the 2012-13 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Rookie team
- Hare, a 6-10 native of Saginaw, Mich. ranked as the 30th-best power forward and 120th-best player in the class of 2012 by Rivals.com and was a two-time Michigan All-State selection.
- Rhode Island was picked to finish 15th according to the league's annual preseason poll, voted on by the 16 league coaches and selected media.
- Saint Joseph's topped the poll, followed by Saint Louis, VCU, Temple, and Massachusetts.
RHODE ISLAND UNVEILS ANOTHER COMPREHENSIVE TV SLATE FOR 2012-13
- Rhode Island will make 21 regular season television appearances during the 2012-13 campaign - including all 15 home games - during head coach Dan Hurley's first season on the sidelines for the Rams.
- Fourteen of Rhody's 15 home games at the Thomas M. Ryan Center will be aired on the Ocean State Networks and streamed on coxsportsonline.com. OSN is a collaboration between Cox Sports and NBC 10 Providence.
- The Rams will make five national television appearances, beginning on Monday, Nov. 12 at Virginia Tech (ESPN3).
- Rhode Island takes on Ohio State on ESPN3 on Saturday, Nov.17 before playing either Seton Hall or Washington in the on Sunday, Nov. 18, on ESPN2 and ESPN3. Both games are part of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic at Mohegan Sun Arena.
- The Nov. 28 home game against George Mason and Feb. 2 contest at Butler will both be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network.
