Second Half Scoring Slump Sinks Rhody; Falls 72-57 at Providence

Box Score

What It Means:
Rhody drops its third straight game against Providence in their annual series, 72-57.  The Rams committed a season-high 20 turnovers and connected on just 3-of-18 from the outside against the Friars.

The Rams trailed 27-26 at the break and took a two-point lead early in the second half, after a Jordan Hare outback dunk made it 33-31.  From there, it was all Friars, as the home team opened up a 21-6 run over the next 10 minutes.

Inside the Box Score and Beyond:
* Jordan Hare led four Rhody players in double figures with a career-best 14 points.  The 6-10 freshman was 6-of-7 from the floor - all six field goals were dunks.  Hare also added four rebounds and three blocked shots.

* Mike Powell played all 40 minutes on the night, tallying 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.

* Poor shooting from the floor plagued Nikola Malesevic and A-10 leading scorer Xavier Munford.  The duo combined to shoot 7-of-25 from the floor - including a combined 0-of-11 from beyond the arc.

* Rhody connected on better than 80.0% from the free throw line, knocking down 14-of-17 from the charity stripe.  Providence managed to get to the line 26 times, making 24.

* Rhody held a 13-4 edge in fast break points and a 16-0 edge in bench scoring.  The Friars outscored the Rams 17-7 in second chance points.

* The Rams' 20 turnovers were the most in a single-game this season and the highest total since Feb. 11, 2012 at Charlotte.  URI also had 20 turns in that game.

* Ryan Brooks was limited to just four minutes in the first half after injuring his right elbow.

* This marked the third straight game that Rhody was outrebounded by more than 10.  Providence grabbed 41 boards to just 28 for URI.
