What It Means:
Rhody drops its third straight game against Providence in their annual series, 72-57. The Rams committed a season-high 20 turnovers and connected on just 3-of-18 from the outside against the Friars.
The Rams trailed 27-26 at the break and took a two-point lead early in the second half, after a Jordan Hare outback dunk made it 33-31. From there, it was all Friars, as the home team opened up a 21-6 run over the next 10 minutes.
Inside the Box Score and Beyond:
* Jordan Hare led four Rhody players in double figures with a career-best 14 points. The 6-10 freshman was 6-of-7 from the floor - all six field goals were dunks. Hare also added four rebounds and three blocked shots.
* Mike Powell played all 40 minutes on the night, tallying 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.
* Poor shooting from the floor plagued Nikola Malesevic and A-10 leading scorer Xavier Munford. The duo combined to shoot 7-of-25 from the floor - including a combined 0-of-11 from beyond the arc.
* Rhody connected on better than 80.0% from the free throw line, knocking down 14-of-17 from the charity stripe. Providence managed to get to the line 26 times, making 24.
* Rhody held a 13-4 edge in fast break points and a 16-0 edge in bench scoring. The Friars outscored the Rams 17-7 in second chance points.
* The Rams' 20 turnovers were the most in a single-game this season and the highest total since Feb. 11, 2012 at Charlotte. URI also had 20 turns in that game.
* Ryan Brooks was limited to just four minutes in the first half after injuring his right elbow.
* This marked the third straight game that Rhody was outrebounded by more than 10. Providence grabbed 41 boards to just 28 for URI.
What's Next:
The Rams begin their final exam break and return to action in nine days, when they host SMU on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Thomas M. Ryan Center.
