Baron's Late Bucket Bounces Billikens

Box Score

WHAT IT MEANS

Rhode Island picked up its third A-10 victory – and sixth overall – in a 64-62 win over Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon.  The win extended Rhody's win streak over the Billikens to four games, dating back to the 2009-10 season.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE AND BEYOND

* Billy Baron scored 13 points – none bigger than his jumper with 4.6 seconds left, which gave the Rams the victory.

* Orion Outerbridge led all scorers with 18 points – while adding five rebounds and three blocks.

* Jonathan Holton was two rebounds short of his eighth double-double of the season.  Sponge tallied 11 points and eight rebounds before fouling out in 28 minutes.

* Saint Louis started the game connecting on its first six shot attempts from the floor, as it built a 15-4 lead just 4:00 into the ballgame.   The Billikens would lead by as many as 13 points (28-15, with 6:51 left in the first half).

* Rhody switched to zone and held SLU to just 8-of-28 shooting the rest of the half.

* SLU connected on just 29.6% of its shots in the second half and 36.1% for the game – the second lowest field-goal percentage defense mark this season (35.0% vs. James Madison).

* The intangible files: Nikola Malesevic pulled down a season-high nine rebounds – eight in the second half; T.J. Buchanan's four points, six rebounds, and three assists (zero turnovers) in 28 minutes; four rebounds and a big put-back by Dominique McKoy with 2:18 left in regulation.

* Rhode Island connected on 76.0% of its free throw attempts (19-25), marking the 14th time the Rams have shot 75.0% or better from the line in a game this year.
