Setting the Scene
Rhode Island placed 12th after the two-day ECAC Championship, scoring 23 points. Cornell won the title with 55 points, followed by Maryland-Eastern Shore with 54, and Princeton rounding out the top three with 44 points.
Rhode Island Results:
- Siobhan Breagy won the 1,000m title in 2:49.20 and Hayley Madsen finished sixth in a personal best and URI junior class record time of 2:52.00. The old record was 2:52.74 by Becky Alves (1983). Madsen ran her previous pr on Saturday in the prelims (2:54.98).
- Kaylan Pickford earned second in the pole vault, clearing 3.80m, just shy of her personal record 3.82m she set at last weekend's New England's where she broke a 13-year-old URI record. Princeton's Tory Worthen won with a clearance of 3.90m.
