Box Score 2 SETTING THE SCENE
Rhode Island (4-10) split a pair of games for the second straight day, defeating Dartmouth 4-3 and falling to South Florida 3-0 Saturday.
In the first game, Rhody jumped out quickly, scoring three times in the top of the first inning and once in the second. In the opening frame, senior Courtney Prendergast led off with her second triple in as many days. She eventually scored on a defensive miscue by Dartmouth (6-4). Later in the inning, sophomore Megan Congro had a two-run single.
Senior Erika Szymnski (2-3) made the run support stand, hurling her second complete-game win in as many days. Szymanski earned the win while scattering eight hits and four walks over seven innings.
In the second game, Rhode Island was limited to five hits as USF blanked the Rams.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
* Sophomore Meg Kelly singled twice, was hit by a pitch, had two sacrifices and scored one run on the day. She has five hits in her last 11 at bats.
* Senior Kelly Coker had two singles, one RBI and one run scored Saturday. She had one hit in each game and has now hit safely in seven straight games. Coker also stole a base against Dartmouth, moving her into sole possession of fifth place in school history with 25 steals.
* Junior Sam Bedore became the eighth player in school history to strike out 200 batters when she fanned seven Saturday. Bedore now has 201 for her career.
* Senior Erika Szymanski earned the 10th victory of her career by beating Dartmouth. It was her second complete game in as many days, and the seventh of her career.
* Junior Ashley Olson had two hits on the day, including a double. It was her second double of the season.

Rhode Island is batting .271 as a team in its last seven games. In its first seven games, Rhody hit .187.
