Rhode Island in Third in Tight Race at Century Intercollegiate

Setting the Scene:

Course: Century C.C. – Purchase, N.Y. (par 71/6,807 yards)

The field: 8 teams, 47 total golfers

Weather: 60 degrees, partly cloudy

Rhode Island's Individual Results:

* Branden Chicorka sits in a tie for third place after the opening round of play on Saturday.  He registered a 2-over par 73.

* Nick Fairweather fired his low round of the Spring season - a 3-over 74 - while put him in sole possession of sixth place after the first round of play.  

* Mat Goldman and Jared Adams each fired an opening day 77 on Saturday, tying them for 16th place overall.  It marks Goldman's second start of the Spring campaign.

* Jeffrey Ray and Andrew Fiorenzano round out the Rhody golfers, tied for 20th place with a score of 78.

* Dartmouth's Charlie Edler sits alone atop the leaderboard, with a 1-under 70.

Rhode Island Team Results:

* The Rams are currently in third place, with a total score of 301 - just five strokes behind leader Dartmouth (296) and one behind Temple (300).  Yale (303) and Princeton (306) round out the top five.

Rhode Island wraps up play in Century Intercollegiate, held at the Century C.C. in Purchase, N.Y.  It is the final regular season match for URI before the Atlantic 10 Championship (April 25-28).
