ALBANY, N.Y. - Senior cornerback Mackenzie Elliott broke up a pass in the end zone to end the game and clinch Rhode Island's first victory of the season, a 19-13 overtime victory over Albany Saturday night.

After Justin Semmes scored on a 1-yard touchdown to give Rhode Island (1-2, 1-1 CAA Football) the lead, Albany (1-2, 0-1 CAA Football) took over at the Rhody 25. A holding penalty on second-and-5 pushed Albany back to the 30-yard line. The Great Danes picked up 7 yards to set up third-and-8. Senior James Timmins came up with an 11-yard sack to force Albany into a fourth-and-19.

Albany quarterback Will Fiacchi targeted receiver Kevin Chillis in the corner of the end zone, but Elliott broke the pass up, ending Rhode Island's 15-game losing streak in the process.

• Linebacker Andrew Bose led the team with a career-high 17 tackles, tying him for the sixth highest single-game total in school history. Bose also had including two for a loss and combined with James Timmins on a sack. He added two pass break-ups.

• Dylan Smith made field goal attempts from 45 and 36 yards. The 45-yard make was the longest of his career.
