Box Score How It Happened:
The scoring started off in the first half when Bryant senior Shana Follette scored on a penalty kick that slipped just past a diving Reilly Lindsey. Immediately after Rhode Island had a great scoring chance when a wide open Nicole Brennan had the ball in front of the goal but Bryant was able to get a foot on the ball to block the potential goal.
Rhody was able to tie the game up before the end of the first half in the 42nd minute of the game on a goal by Donika Murray. Murray dangled the goalkeeper then took a shot with her left foot the went right into the middle of the goal.
The second half was evenly matched until Bryant was able to put two balls in the goal in the 77th and 82nd minutes by Suzanne Sanders and Rachael Ivanicki respectively. This pushed the score to 3-1 in favor of Bryant and the Rams weren't able to recover.
Inside the Box Score:
- With the loss, Rhode Island drops to 2-3-0, while Bryant improves to 2-3-0 overall.
- Bryant held a 17-10 advantage in total shots.
- Rhody out-cornered the Bulldogs, 5-4.
- The Rams also committed 12 fouls to Bryant's 11.
- Lucy Gildein led Rhode Island in shots attempted with three.
- Rachael Ivanicki led all players in the game with four shots attempted.
Additional Notes:
- Rhode Island is now 10-1-0 all time against Bryant and 1-1-0 under head coach Michael Needham.
- The loss dropped URI's record to 1-1-0 on the road this season.
- The loss also dropped Rhody's record to 0-2-0 when playing on a Friday.
- Reilly Lindsey made her second start of the season. She is the first Rhode Island goalie to do so. With the loss her record now stands at (1-2-0).
- Lindsey also becomes the first goalie to play an entire game.
- Donika Murray's goal was her second of the season and her career. She now has four points on the season.
