Rhody Has Strong Meet on Senior Day

Setting the Scene
The Rhode Island women's track & field team competed earlier today in the URI Coaches Coed Invitational. The other teams that competed included Boston Unviersity, Brown, Bryant, Central Connecticut, New Hampshire, Providence, Stonehill and UMass Lowell. The event was also senior day for both the men's and women's teams. Out of nine total teams Rhody came in first with 170.5 total points. 

Rhode Island Results

  • Janel Conley placed third in the long jump (5.45m) and high jump (1.70m).
  • Rhody claimed the top five spots in the pole vault (Kaylan Pickford, Karleigh Manfredi, Lindsey Folsom, Amber Sekoll and Ann Kelly)
  • Genevieve Rybicki who we talked to earlier this week, placed first in the weight throw (17.63m).
  • Alexa Pelletier and Courtney Hawkins were both strong in the mile run coming in second (4:59.00) and third (5:02.00) respectively.
  • Emily Renna out-ran the competition in the 60-meter hurdles (8.96).
  • In the 200-meter dash Jennifer Christian placed third (24.74).
  • The relay team of Lauren Burke, Jennifer Czerapowicz, Michelle Savoie and Mariah Claudio placed first in the 4x400 relay (4:02.73).

Up Next
The Rams will have two separate meets next Saturday, February 8 in Boston, Mass. for the Valentine's Classic and Bronx, N.Y. for the New Balance Collegiate. Both events will begin at 1 p.m.
