Setting the Scene
The Rhode Island women's track & field team competed in the Valentine's Classic earlier today. The results of the meet were all individual results.

Rhode Island Results

  • Juliana Galante got the day started with a 23rd of 158 finish in the 800-meter run (2:14.27)
  • Alexa Pelletier ran a Rhode Island freshman record time of 9:47.23 in the 3000-meter run, which was also good for the second best run in the event of all-time in Rhody history. She came in 28th of 120.
  • Mariah Claudio ran a 57.26 in the 500-meter run good enough for 20th of 168.
  • Jennifer Christian, Brianna Robitaille and Hannah Janeczak all came in the top 50 in the 200-meter dash coming in 37th, 45th and 48th respectively.
  • In the 1000-meter run Nicolette Pelrine placed 33rd of 84 (3:05.45).
  • The 4x400 relay team of Dyshelle Pemberton, Lauren Burke, Jennifer Czerapowicz and Mariah Claudio came in ninth of 53 different teams (3:52.14).
  • Michelle Savoie came in 11th of 75 in the long jump (5.31m).
  • Genevieve Rybicki and Katja Neves came in ninth and tenth respectively in the shot put with throws of 12.32m and 12.30m. There were 46 athletes competing in the event.
  • Kaylan Pickford placed third in the pole vault with a jump of 3.65m.
  • In the high jump Janel Conley had a nice fifth of 23 finish (1.65m).
  • Rybicki also placed well in the weight throw coming in third of 49 competitors (16.73m).

Up Next
The Rams have a week off and then will compete in the A-10 Championship here in Kingston, R.I. at 9 a.m. on February 22.
