Bedore Notches 300th Strikeout, Leads Rams to Win Over Dayton

Box Score

How it Happened
Senior Sam Bedore became the fourth player in Rhode Island history to reach 300 career strikeouts as she hurled a complete game to lead the Rams (5-16, 1-1 A-10) to a 4-2 victory over Dayton Saturday.

Bedore (3-5) scattered seven hits and struck out six batters in the win. Her final strikeout came with one out in the top of the seventh inning, giving her exactly 300 for her career. She joins Gwen Rack (493), Sue Foggo (328) and Jenna Thurston (308) as the only Rhody pitchers to reach the mark.

Rhode Island broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The key play was a two-out, bases loaded double by freshman Marylynn Muldowney that cleared the bases.

Dayton (10-14, 1-1 A-10) got two runs back in the top of the fifth, but Bedore made the lead stick as Rhode Island won its first league game of the season.
