Rhody Women in Fourth Place After Day One of A-10 Championship

Setting the Scene
The Rams currently are in fourth place after Saturday's events with 30 points. Dayton is in the first place with 58 total points.

Rhode Island Results

  • Kaylan Pickford secured a third place finish in the pole vault (3.70m).
  • Genevieve Rybicki and Grace Janes were impressive in the hammer throw placing third and fourth respectively. Rybicki threw 51.28m and Janes threw 48.96m.
  • Kelly McCabe grabbed a first place finish in the javelin throw (45.52m). The throw, which was a personal best, broke the school and conference record and qualifies her for ECAC's and the NCAA East Regionals.
  • After the first four events of the heptathlon Janel Conley stands in first place with 3064 points overall. She placed in the top three in all four events, the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump, the shot put and the 200-meter dash.

Sunday's Finals 

  • Jennifer Christian, Hannah Janeczak and Brianna Robitaille will all be running in the finals tomorrow in the 100-meter dash.
  • Christian (24.53) and Janeczak (24.80) also qualified in the 200-meter dash.
  • In the 400-meter dash Mariah Claudio will race again tomorrow (56.23).
  • Emily Renna grabbed a qualifying time of 14.12 in the 100-meter hurdles and finished in third place.
