How It Happened
Central Connecticut scored in the final minute of regulation to escape Kingston with a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island Thursday night.
Moments after Central Connecticut's fourth corner kick of the night, Jennifer Cafferky scored her first goal of the season for the Blue Devils (2-0). Shauny Alterisio had the assist on the lone goal of the evening.
Rhode Island (1-2) managed eight shots in the second half, but could not get one past CCSU keeper Ashley Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh made six saves – five of which came in the second half – to earn the shutout.
