How It Happened
Rhode Island was blanked by Brown in its first match of the spring, falling 7-0 to the Bears Sunday.
Sophomores Mihaela Codreanu and Rachel Smilansky came up just short at No. 1 doubles. Brown's tandem of Maddie Stearns and Courtney Kowalsky held on for the 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. It was the closest the Rams came to a win on the day. Each of the five singles matches were decided in straight sets. Rhode Island defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to an injury-shortened lineup.
