Box Score How It Happened
Rhode Island used a three-run rally to tie the game in the top of the fourth, but Ball State responded with seven runs in the bottom of the inning en route to an 11-3 win over the Rams at the Belmont/TSU Invitational Friday night.
Down 3-0, Rhode Island (2-16) got a rally started when Abigail Bates walked to start the top of the fourth. Kylie Shivery's one-out single put two runners on, and Erika Yeager cleared the bases with a double to right center. Rebecca Simms drove Yeager in with a double of her own to knot the score.
Ball State (16-9) used five hits and a pair of Rhode Island errors to put seven runs on the board in the bottom of the inning. A single run the following inning ended the game via eight-run rule.
