How it Happened
Rhode Island (7-3) established control early on, scoring 14 consecutive points before Robert Morris got on the board. The Rams' defense forced the Colonials to open the game 0-for-12 from the field and did not allow a basket until there was just 2:59 remaining in the first quarter.
A 3-pointer by Davida Dale put Rhody up by 20 a minute into the second quarter. Kassondra Brown then gave URI its largest lead of the game (25 points) with a free throw that made it 39-14 with just over minute left to play before halftime. Rhode Island went into the break on top 39-17.
Robert Morris (4-5) trimmed the lead down to 10 twice but the Rams managed to preserve the double-digit lead as a pair of final-minute free throws by Dale sealed the 71-59 victory.
