How it Happened
Rhode Island dropped its battle with Duquesne Wednesday night, falling 72-62 to the Dukes.
Rhody started out hot thanks to a balanced offense in the first quarter. The Rams finished the first 10 minutes of play up 21-17 behind points from Davida Dale (10), Maia Moffitt (5), Kassondra Brown (4) and Brazil Harvey-Carr (2).
The momentum carried into the second, and Rhody used a 5-0 run to enter the locker room up 40-31.
Rhody built its biggest lead to 11 at the 9:49 mark of the third. After that, the offense for the Rams went cold, and Duquesne took advantage. Rhode Island was only able to connect on one field goal, as the rest of its points came from the free throw line (6). The Dukes took their first lead of the game with 14 seconds left in the third (50-48).
The fourth quarter was all Duquesne, as it outscored Rhody 22-14 in the final 10 minutes. The Rams cut the lead to six after back-to-back 3-pointers from Dale and Meghan Oberg (68-62), but it wasn't enough as the Rams fell.

- Redshirt senior Davida Dale had a game-high 27 points in another full 40 minutes on the floor. She added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Freshman Kassondra Brown scored eight points and added three rebounds.
- Redshirt junior Meghan Oberg finished with eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Redshirt junior Erin Jones added six points.
- Duquesne was able to limit senior Nicole Jorgensen to just one point in 12 minutes. Entering the game, the leading scorer for Rhody was averaging 16.2 points per game.
