How it Happened
Rhode Island and Massachusetts split a doubleheader Friday, with the Rams rallying to take the first game 8-7 and UMass coasting to an 11-2 victory in the second game.

Game 1 – Rhode Island 8, Massachusetts 7 (10 inn.)
Addison Kopack's single drove in Mark Coley in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Rhode Island (15-16-1, 3-3 Atlantic 10) a walk-off victory in the first game of the doubleheader.

It was a wild back-and-forth game in which the Rams survived seven errors that led to five unearned runs. Rhody trailed 7-5 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth when Sonny Ulliana drew a walk. Xavier Vargas drilled a line shot into the tress in center field to tie the score and set up extra innings.

After Zach Fernandez (3-2) got through the top of the 10th unscathed, URI started the bottom of the inning with Coley on second base. After a dropped foul ball gave him extra life, Joe Fortin was able to move Coley to third with a grounder to the right side. Kopack then ground a single past the drawn-in infield to end the game.

Game 2 – Massachusetts 11, Rhode Island 2 (7 inn.)
UMass (8-23, 1-9 A-10) scored six times in the top of the first inning to establish a big lead early. Rhody chipped away with single runs in the first and second innings, but a four-run third inning extended the deficit to eight and the Rams were not able to close the gap.
