Hurlman Contract Not Renewed

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island softball head coach Bridget Hurlman's contract will not be renewed, Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn announced Tuesday.

"I am thankful for Bridget's contributions to the softball program, and I wish her all the best moving forward," Bjorn said. "I am appreciative of the positive impacts Bridget had. These decisions are never easy, but it is appropriate to make a change at this time."

Hurlman came to Rhode Island in July of 2015 and spent six seasons as the head coach.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to Thorr Bjorn and the University of Rhode Island for allowing me to have been a part of Rhody Nation over these last six years," Hurlman said. "It has been an honor to wear Rhode Island across my chest and work beside my amazing staff and support staff daily in our efforts to lead this special group of young women in pursuit of championship excellence. With all my heart, I wish nothing but success for them and this program moving forward."

Rhode Island will begin a national search for the next head coach immediately.
