RHODE ISLAND VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE - SERIES NOTES
- Saturday's matchup will be the 96th between Rhode Island and New Hampshire all time, with the Wildcats holding a 60-30-5 advantage in the series. URI is 9-35-3 when visiting New Hampshire.
- The last time the Rams won in Durham was a 10-7 victory in 1995. Rhody has dropped 11 straight road games at New Hampshire.
- Last season Rhode Island beat the Wildcats 28-3 behind a defensive effort that allowed just 159 yards of offense, including just 24 rushing yards.
- Cornerback Jordan Jones broke up three passes and linebacker L.B. Mack III had two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery to lead the defense.
- Running back Jaylen Smith had 117 rushing yards plus three catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns the last time the teams met.
- New Hampshire is coming off its first CAA Football loss, a 40-34 defeat at Richmond.
- The game features two of the top running backs in the league. Rhody's Marques DeShields is second in the conference in both total rushing yards (906) and rushing touchdowns (10), while New Hampshire's Dylan Laube has 749 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground..
- The Wildcats defense gets after the quarterback. Dylan Ruiz and Josiah Silver rank second and fifth nationally in sacks per game, respectively. Ruiz has nine sacks, while Silver has 8.5.
LEE DELIVERS CAREER DAY IN WIN OVER MAINE
- Wide receiver Ed Lee set career highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (190) while also adding a career-long 30-yard punt return to spark the Rams to their 26-22 win over Maine last week.
- The 190 receiving yards were the most by any CAA Football player in a game this season.
- It also was the 10th highest single-game total in URI history.
- Of Lee's eight receptions, six resulted in first downs.
- His 63-yard touchdown catch was his fourth of the season and seventh of his career.
- He leads the team in receptions (43), receiving yards (760) and touchdown catches (4).
- He ranks 24th nationally with 84.4 receiving yards per game.
AIR DEFENSE AMONG NATION'S BEST
- Rhode Island ranks 21st in the country in passing defense, giving up just 189.8 yards per game.
- Six of URI's seven opponents have passed for fewer than 190 yards, and five teams - Stony Brook (83), Brown (149), Elon (130), William & Mary (132) and Maine (126) - did not eclipse 150 passing yards.
- URI has not allowed any touchdown passes in five of its nine games.
- Rhode Island is second in CAA Football and 35th nationally with nine interceptions.
- Cornerbacks Jordan Jones (2) and Antonio Carter II, safeties Buzz Robinson and Henry Yianakopolos; and linebackers Jake Fire, Emmanuel Gomes, Jarrett Martin and Evan Stewart have all recorded picks for the Rams.
