Rams Make Major Jumps in Both FCS Top 25 Polls

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island made big jumps in both national polls this week, moving up to No. 14 in the AFCA Coaches Top 25 and No. 17 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, both of which were released Monday.

The Rams rose six spots in the AFCA Coaches Poll following their 35-21 win at Bryant Saturday night. URI has opened the season with back-to-back double-digit road wins. It has led to the program's highest ranking in the coaches poll during the Jim Fleming era, matching the team's highest slot last season.

With 272 points in the AFCA poll, Rhode Island picked up 112 points from a week ago.

In the Stats Perform poll, URI leaped to No. 17, up five spots from last week. After receiving 324 points last week, the Rams got 468 in the latest poll, just 20 behind UT Martin. Last season, the Rams got to as high as No. 12 in the Stats Perform poll.

This week's contest against Delaware will be one of the biggest in FCS football. The Blue Hens comes to Meade Stadium ranked No. 9 in the Stats Perform poll and No. 10 in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
