NEWPORT, R.I. - Rhode Island will spend the next three days competing in the Newport Doubles Tournament at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in historic Newport.
The six-school tournament begins play Friday afternoon. Competing on the Hall's grass courts, the players will be wearing their white uniforms, in keeping with sport tradition. Along with Rhode Island, the invitation-only field includes 16 sets of doubles teams representing Georgetown, Dartmouth, Boston College, Boston University and Brown.
Competition format will be best-of-three sets, with a super breaker for the third set.
All visitors for the tournament are welcome to tour the Hall of Fame museum.
Friday's matches begin at 4 p.m. Play begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
