RHODE ISLAND VS. FORDHAM - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Fordham are facing each other for the 71st time Wednesday.
- URI holds a 40-30 edge in the all-time series, though the teams have split the last six meetings.
- Last season, Fordham won 61-55. Rhody trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half before rallying to tie the score twice in the final five minutes, but Fordham ended the game with a 10-4 run to hold on.
- Rhode Island's bench led the comeback attempt, scoring 27 of URI's 36 second-half points. Jalen Carey finished with 12 points, Sebastian Thomas added nine and Malik Martin had seven.
- Darius Quisenberry had 15 points, seven assists and three steals in the last meeting for Fordham.
- Fordham's Keith Urgo is in his first season as the head coach after serving as the associate head coach in 2021-22. With a 12-1 start to his career, Urgo matched the best start for Fordham since the 1970-71 season.
- Rhode Island is 19-11 at home all time against Fordham.
- Archie Miller is 8-0 all-time against Fordham, with all eight games coming while he was at Dayton.
- Fordham is one of the best shot-blocking teams in the nation. It entered the week fourth in the country and first in the Atlantic 10 with 6.1 blocks per game.

- Both teams are strong at the free throw line. Fordham leads the A-10 and ranks 28th nationally with a .761 free throw percentage, while URI is fourth in the conference at .735 from the stripe.
CAREY SETS SEASON HIGHS IN POINTS, REBOUNDS
- Guard Jalen Carey had one of his strongest games for Rhode Island at Duquesne on Saturday, finishing with a season-high 15 points and matching his career high of seven rebounds.
- Carey was 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc, marking the first time in his career he had three 3-point baskets in one game.
- After missing his first six 3-point attempts of the season, he is 4-for-5 from deep over the last two games.
- Since returning from injury, Carey is averaging 11.8 points per game over his last four contests. He was averaging 6.0 points per game through the first three games before sitting to recover.
- He has been an exceptionally efficient scorer, shooting .520 from the field (26-of-50), .818 at the free throw line (9-for-11) and .364 (4-for-11) from 3-point range.
- Carey also is averaging 3.3 assists per game since returning from the injury.
TEAM TAKING BETTER CARE OF THE BALL
- URI continued its trend of better ball care with a season-low nine turnovers at Duquesne.
- Over its last six games, URI is averaging 13.0 turnovers per games.
- In the first seven games of the year, the team averaged 16.1 per game.
- The Rams have had a positive assist-turnover ratio in five of the last six games. That happened just twice in the first seven games of the season.
