RHODE ISLAND VS. RICHMOND - SERIES NOTES
- Saturday will mark the 23rd meeting in the history between Rhode Island and Richmond, which dates back to 1984.
- The Rams are 6-16 all-time against the Spiders and will look to chip away at their 4-6 disadvantage at Meade Stadium.Â
- It has been eight years since the programs faced off, despite their shared CAA Football membership.
- The Spiders used to be a frequent opponent for the Rams, having met on 11 different occasions from 2000-15.Â
- Rhody's last win in the series came in 2013 when the team claimed a 12-10 victory.
- Rhode Island's defense had 15 pass breakups, despite entering the day with a total of 20 for the season, and recorded six tackles for loss.
- Former Ram Dylan Smith tied the school record by converting four field goals that day, the last of which helped lift the team to victory. Â
RAMS TO HONOR 1973 TEAM AT HALFTIME
- The 1973 Rhode Island Football team will be honored during halftime of Saturday's game.Â
- It will be the 50th reunion for the group, which is set to have over 50 members in attendance.Â
- URI famously traveled to Frankfurt, Germany that season to face Air Force-Europe in the Turkey Bowl.Â
- The Rams won the game 34-6 to cap off their campaign with a 6-2-2 record.Â
COLBERT CLOSING IN ON 100 SOLO TACKLES
- With 90 career unassisted tackles, safety Jordan Colbert is 10 stops away from reaching 100 in his career.Â
- The Clinton, Md. native tallied 39 in two years suiting up for Columbia before joining the Rams last year.
- Colbert is looking to become the third member of the URI roster to reach the mark, as linebacker Evan Stewart and safety Brent Jackson have already achieved the feat.Â
- Jackson has an astounding 157 solo career tackles, whiel Stewart is credited with 120. Â
- His centennial achievement came during the season-opener at Georgia State (Aug. 31).Â
- The trio lead the defense in total tackles this season.
- Stewart has a team-best 48, followed by 38 by Jackson and 35 from Colbert.Â
HILL CONTINUES TO CLIMB THE RANKS
- Quarterback Kasim Hill is three touchdown passes away from overtaking Chris Hixson (1993-96) for second in URI's career history.Â
- He is also chasing down Hixson for second all-time in yards of total offense, where he needs 470 yards to stand alone at second.Â
- The Washington, D.C. native's four-yard touchdown pass to wideout Kahtero Summers in the final quarter of the Bryant game marked the 50th of his career.Â
- Hill is one of three quarterbacks in Rhode Island history to reach that mark.
- Tom Ehrhardt (1984-85) holds the career record with 78, while Hixson sits second with 55.Â
- Ehrdhardt also holds the yards of total offense record with 8,063.Â
