No. 22 Rhode Island Upset by Richmond

How it Happened
No. 22 Rhode Island suffered a 24-17 setback to Richmond in its homecoming game on Saturday afternoon at Meade Stadium.

The Spiders (4-3, 3-1 CAA Football) were in control for most of the contest and led by as much as 24-10 in the fourth quarter before claiming their final victory over the Rams (4-3, 2-2 CAA Football). The visiting team set the tone early with an interception on Rhode Island's opening play of the afternoon and scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive.

URI showed promise when a 32-yard touchdown pass was caught by John Erby and Ty Groff kicked a 27-yard field goal to put the squad up 10-7 in the second quarter, but it proved to be the team's only lead of the game.

Richmond then accrued 17 unanswered points and though Kasim Hill gave his teammates hope when he rushed for a score at the 1:54 mark, the visitors held on for the win.
