KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island freshman Tony Liu was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Liu placed 21st out of 72 at the Macdonald Cup hosted by Yale last weekend. He was URI's most consistent performer on the weekend, shooting 73-75-74 over three rounds on the par-70 Yale Golf Course.

"This is the first of what will be many honors and awards for Tony," Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said. "He is driver-three wood from even scratching his enormous potential."

Liu and the Rams are competing at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse Monday and Tuesday this week.
