Â
RHODE ISLAND VS. NEW HAMPSHIREÂ - SERIES NOTES
- Saturday's game will be the 97th in the history between Rhode Island and New Hampshire, which dates back to 1905.
- The Wildcats have a 61-30-5 advantage over the Rams in the teams' 118-year history.Â
- Despite New Hampshire holding a significant all-time edge over URI, the programs have split the last four meetings.
- URI picked up a 24-21 win at home in 2018 to snap a seven-game losing streak to the Wildcats.
- That victory helped Rhody achieve a winning season for the first time in 17 years.
- In 2023, the Rams are looking to compile their fourth straight winning campaign.Â
- Rhode Island added a decisive, 28-3 victory at Meade Stadium again in 2021 to knock off the 'Cats.
- The defense limited UNH to just 159 total yards of offense and 10 first downs.
- Quarterback Kasim Hill was 12-of-23 for 221 yards and four touchdowns, setting a new career high.Â
- Hill matched that effort earlier this season when he threw four touchdown passes at Georgia State (Aug. 31).Â
- Rhode Island will be looking to avenge 2022's last-minute, 31-28 loss in Durham.
HILL BECOMES URI CAREER LEADER IN YARDS OF TOTAL OFFENSE
- During the game at UAlbany, quarterback Kasim Hill became Rhode Island's career leader in yards of total offense with 8,070.
- Hill surpassed both Tom Ehrhardt (8,063 yds.; 1984-85) and Chris Hixson (7,927 yds.; 1993-96) with his effort against the Great Danes.
- The quarterback is chasing down Hixson for second all-time on URI's career touchdowns list.Â
- He is currently credited with 54 and will need two more to overtake the formal signal caller.
- The Washington, D.C. native's 4-yard touchdown pass to wideout Kahtero Summers in the final quarter of the Bryant game marked the 50th of his career.Â
- Hill is one of three quarterbacks in Rhode Island history to reach that mark.
- Tom Ehrhardt (1984-85) holds the career record with 78.
- In addition to his ranking in the Rams' record book, Hill also stands as one of the best quarterbacks in the country.Â
- He checks into the national top 10 in passing yards (2,298; 1st), passing yards per game (287.2; 5th), total offense (292.1; 8th), points responsible for (108; 9th) and passing touchdowns (15; 10th).
HOME AGAIN
- The battle with New Hampshire will be the Rams' penultimate game at Meade Stadium this season.
- Rhody's last remaining home contest is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 against conference newcomer North Carolina A&T.
- That game will serve as senior day for URI.
- The Rams are currently 2-1 in Kingston, having defeated both Stony Brook (35-14, Sept. 8) and Bryant (49-26, Sept. 30) before falling to Richmond (24-17, Oct. 14).
- The loss to the Spiders snapped a six-game winning streak at Meade Stadium for Rhode Island, which dated back to the 2022 season.
- URI was 4-1 at home in both 2022 and 2021.
- The Rams' veteran group of center Sebastian Delasoudas, right guard Nick Correia, left tackle Lorenzo Thompson, linebacker Chris Arrington and wide-out John Erby have amassed a 15-8 advantage at home on Priore Field since joining the program in 2018.Â
- Five of those victories have come over ranked opponents.Â
- Most recently, Rhody defeated No. 14/18 Elon 17-10 last October. Â
RAMS LOOKING FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WINNING SEASON
- Rhode Island went 7-4 for the second straight year in 2022.
- The seven victories are the highest win total in two decades, dating back to an 8-3 record in 2001.
- Head coach Jim Fleming has a chance to become just the third Rhody coach with four consecutive winning seasons, joining Hal Kopp and Bob Griffin
- Kopp did it from 1952-55, going 25-6-2 over that span. Griffin was 33-14 from 1982-85.
- Fleming has four winning seasons in the last five years, going 6-5 in 2018, 2-1 in the COVID-19-shortened 2020-21 Spring season, and then 7-4 in both 2021-22.
- Fleming is one of five coaches with three or more winning seasons in Kingston.
- Frank Keaney had seven winning seasons in 21 years. Bob Griffin had seven winning seasons in 17 years.
- Hal Kopp (1950, 1952-55) was above .500 four times in five years, and Marshall Tyler had three winning seasons in 10 years (1898-1901, 1903-08).
