- The visiting Bengals are a non-NCAA opponent, as they comes in the United Stats Collegiate Athletic Association.
- There are 16 men's soccer programs in the USCAA, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa.
- Maine Fort Kent won the USCAA Division I national championship, defeating Bryant and Stratton - Syracuse 1-0 on penalty kicks.Â
- The contest was a rematch of the 2021 national championship game, which Bryant and Stratton - Syracuse won on penalty kicks.Â
- Maine Fort Kent is ranked No. 4 in the latest USCAA Division I poll.
- Ajay Chin leads the Bengals with five goals, which he has scored in five matches. Three of the goals came in one game against Thomas College.
- Michael German and Rohane Brown each have three goals, while Cheva Denton has two goals and one assist.
- Maine Fort Kent has scored 16 goals while allowing five.
- The Bengals played at Connecticut last season and fell by a narrow 2-1 margin. Maine Fort Kent scored five minutes into the match and led until the Huskies tied it in the 64th minute. UConn did not get the game-winner until the 79th minute.Â
RAMS TO HONOR SIX SENIORS BEFORE THE MATCHÂ Â
- The match will be Senior Day for Rhode Island.Â
- Defender Shadrach Walker, midfielder Michael Tavares, defender Alberto Molina, forward Rafa Villanueva, defender Vetle Nilsen and midfielder Kevin Castaneda all will be honored.
- Walker (Providence), Tavares (Portsmouth) and Castaneda (Providence) all are Rhode Island natives who have spent four seasons with the program.
- Tavares followed the path of his father, Joe, who played at URI from 1984-88.
- Molina has appeared in 28 matches for the Rams, logging more than 1,700 minutes of playing time.
- Villanueva is a native of Getxo, Spain who spent three seasons in Kingston.
- He has played in 38 matches, recording seven goals and three assists.
- Nilsen has started all 43 matches he has played for Rhode Island and has anchored the back line in 15 shutouts.
- Tuesday will be the 50th career match for Castaneda, who was an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman.
BERMINGHAM FINDING BACK OF THE NETÂ Â
- Junior forward Brandon Bermingham has scored a goal in each of the last two matches for Rhode Island.
- The Drogheda, Ireland native missed the first five matches of the season and has been held out of six altogether due to an injury suffered in preseason.
- He got his first goal on a penalty kick at George Mason last Wednesday night.
- That goal ended a scoreless streak of four matches and more than 470 minutes total for URI.
- Bermingham also had the team's lone goal in a 1-0 victory over No. 25 Fordham on Saturday night.
- Bermingham had 31 goals and 12 assists over two seasons playing for NAIA William Carey from 2021-22.
- In 2022, he was an NAIA Second Team All-American and the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year for William Carey, scoring 22 goals and dishing out seven assists in 19 matches.Â
