RHODE ISLAND VS. GEORGE MASON - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and George Mason are playing for the 13th time overall, and the second time this year.
- On Jan. 21, the Patriots defeated URI 79-72 at the Ryan Center.
- In that game, George Mason was led by Josh Oduro, who had 24 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots while shooting 10-of-15 from the floor.
- The Rams shot 70.0 percent (14-of-20) from the field in the second half of the game, URI's best offensive half of the season. However, the Patriots shot a healthy 55.6 percent (15-of-27) and Rhody was unable to overcome a 15-point halftime deficit.
- Brayon Freeman had a career-high 25 points and Brandon Weston added a career-high 15 points for Rhode Island in the first meeting. Freeman had 23 of his points in the second half.
- Since the teams met on Jan. 21, Rhode Island has split four games while George Mason is 1-4.
- Rhode Island is 3-1 all time at George Mason and has not lost there since a 61-54 defeat on Nov. 30, 2013.
- This marks just the second time the Rams and George Mason have played each other twice in the same season. During the 2013-14 season, the teams split a pair of games.
- That season was George Mason's first in the Atlantic 10. Though the teams met two times, the first game was a non-conference game that completed a three-game contracted series between the schools.
STEWART HAS BREAKOUT SHOOTING PERFORMANCE
- Rhode Island freshman Rory Stewart scored a career-high 11 points last time out at Saint Louis.
- The 6-8 forward was perfect from the floor, shooting 4-for-4 overall and 3-for-3 from 3-point range.
- His scoring all came in the second half.
- Entering the game, Stewart had been 4-for-21 from long range on the season.
- Since the start of Atlantic 10 play, Stewart is shooting .400 from 3-point range (6-for-15) and .471 overall (8-for-17). He shot 1-for-9 (11.1 percent) from deep and 5-for-18 (27.8 percent) overall in non-conference play.
- Stewart had a team-high plus-8 in just 11 minutes, as the Rams outscored Saint Louis 25-17 while Stewart was on the floor.
- For the season, Stewart has a team-best plus-33 in 135 minutes of playing time.
- The only other Ram with a positive plus-minus in regular playing time is Josaphat Bilau, who was plus-15 in 185 minutes before suffering a season-ending injury.
- Stewart is the 10th different Ram to score in double digits at least once this season.
