Sophie Herrman each won their respective matches, but the Rams fell 5-2 at Connecticut Thursday afternoon.
Playing at the Magic Lincer Tennis Academy, URI (4-4) was swept in doubles play as UConn (5-2) grabbed the early lead. Loredo made quick work of Caroline Cook at No. 5 singles. Her 6-3, 6-4 straight-set victory evened the team score for Rhode Island.
However, the Huskies took the next three results, getting the points at No. 6 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 1 singles to secure the team result.
Herrman grabbed a second team point at No. 2 singles when she defeated Isabel Petri Bere, 7-5, 6-2. It was her 10th singles win of the year.
Rhode Island hosts Stony Brook on Saturday. The match begins at 4 p.m. at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport.
