How it Happened
A tough series ended with a second 3-2 walk-off loss at Bucknell Sunday evening, as Rhode Island dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the Bison. Rhody lost all three games in the series despite holding a late lead in each game.
Rhody (3-9) scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth.
Billy Butler drilled a two-out double to the gap in left center before
Jack Hopko was hit by a pitch and
Ryan King drew a four-pitch walk.
Nicholas Toro worked a full-count walk to force Butler home with the game's first run.
URI starter
Braeden Perry carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before the Bison (5-9) finally broke through. Kyle Lyons reached on an infield single. One out later, Jacob Corson laced a double to left center that brought Lyons in to tie the game. Corson moved to third on a groundout.
Cole Carroll came on in relief and threw a wild pitch, allowing Corson to score the go-ahead run.
Addison Kopack got a one-out double in the top of the seventh to get the potential tying run into scoring position. A fly out brought
Eric Genther to the plate. He chopped an infield single to put runners on the corners for Butler. Butler came through with a single through the left side, driving in Kopack to tie the score.
In the bottom of the eighth, Anthony Sherwin and Corson drew back-to-back walks off
Colin Maloney.
Ryan Andrade came on for Maloney, and the first batter he faced, Grant Voytovich, singled through the left side. Sherwin got a good jump from second and dove in under the tag, giving Bucknell its second extra-inning walk-off win of the day.

- Freshman Braden Perry had a strong start despite a no decision. He hurled 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He struck out seven batters with just one walk.
- Redshirt senior Billy Butler doubled, singled had one RBI and scored one run.
- Redshirt junior Addison Kopack doubled, singled and scored one run.
- Freshman Michael Anderson had a single.
- Freshman Nicholas Toro singled and drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk.
- Freshman Jack Hopko singled and was hit by a pitch.
