MYRTLE BEACH, N.C. - Senior Brandon Gillis shot the low round of the tournament as he charged up the leaderboard on the final day of the Bach at the Beach Tuesday. His 6-under par led Rhode Island to a ninth-place team finish in the 18-team field.

Gillis fired a 65 on Tuesday, the lowest round carded on the par-71 Surf Golf and Beach Club, shooting two eagles and three birdies along the way. On the final day of the Bash, Gillis moved 20 spots up the leaderboard, and over the final two rounds, he was 9-under par

Head Coach Gregg Burke Said...
"There were many good things over the three rounds but the overwhelming fact is that we are a two-man team right now.   We had two players in the top six individuals and still came in 9th. Bryson and Brandon combined for nine under. If we got just even par from two of the other three each day we are tied for the championship.

"We have a couple days to get some good work in before we play again and I'm sure we'll get more from the 3-4-5 slots.  I will say that our not playing well was not because of lack of effort all winter. The guys worked hard and just need to put it together."
