SAN PEDRO GARZA - NUEVO LEON, Mexico - Rhode Island followed up a strong opening round with a rough second round on the first day of the Monterrey Collegiate Classic Monday.

With Jack Quinn shooting 3-under par and Tony Liu going 1-under in the opening round, the Rams were tied for the team lead after the morning round. All six Rhody golfers were plus-3 or be better in the early round.

As strong as the team played in the first round, it did not follow up in Round Two. All six Rams were plus-6 or worse as Rhode Island was plus-30 and fell down to 10th place in the 10-team field.

"Early in the first round we were in first," Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said. "Then we were in last, and then we climbed back to first. Thee second round was a disaster on every level, but tomorrow is a day to find out who we are."
