KETTERING, Ohio - First-year player
Jack Quinn placed fourth out of 81 golfers to lead the Rhode Island contingent at the 2026 Moraine Intercollegiate. As a team, the Rams struggled overall despite moments of solid play, finishing 10th in the team standings.
The Rams were 12-over par as a team in the final round after going six over in each of the first two rounds.
"Today was just not a good day of golf for us overall as a team, but we got great efforts from
Jack Quinn and
Seb Carlsson," Rhode Island head coach
Gregg Burke said. "We are not a 12-over team on this golf course. That said, it is a tough golf course and the greens were really firm from all the wind."

Quinn finished the tournament 2-undr par and was just four stroke back of medalist Chun-Ta Wun from Minnesota. Quinn was one of only six players in the field to go under par for the tournament.
Carlsson kept getting better as the tournament moved along. After a tough opening round, he was plus-3 in round two and then plus-1 in the final round. Carlsson was 1-under par over his final 14 holes. He jumped 14 spots on the leaderboard in the final round.
"We came here hoping Sen or
Owen Rooney would just break out and take the fourth spot their own going forward," Burke said. "Seb's four over for the final 36 and his incredible play on Martha's Vineyard might have done that, but he had a difficult first round so you have to take the good with the bad."
Tony Liu was tied for 24th on the leaderboard, while
Josiah Tong finished in a tie for 48th. Liu Tong and Rooney were all plus-five in the final round.
"Josiah was not himself but he will bounce back," Burke said. "Tony dominated this golf course a year ago but not as much this time. And Owen gets a little better each week.
"We've played five straight weekends which is a lot of golf, especially for the three guys not used to travelling as much. We've been on planes, ferries, golf van, and rental cars so they need a break.
"Clearly we could have and should have played better. But I know they tried their best and never gave up. We might not have the firepower of recent teams, but we have a will I wouldn't trade for the world. I'm proud they're wearing Rhody Blue and playing in some big tournaments."
Rhode Island closes out the Fall portion of its season with a trip to Mexico in October. The Rams will compete at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic from Oct. 26-27.
