Washington Pounds Rams, 15-5

How it Happened
Washington scored early and often as it rolled past Rhode Island 15-5 to take the series finale Sunday afternoon.

Rhode Island (4-11) could not slow down the Huskies (14-4). The hosts scored four runs on three hits in the first inning, then tacked on four more in the bottom of the second inning, with the big blow coming in the form of an A.J. Guerrero three-run home run.

Washington added five in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the seventh to open a 15-0 lead.

Rhody did put up five runs in the ninth inning. Calvin McCall drilled a three-run home run to highlight the late rally.

Inside the Box Score
  • Redshirt junior Calvin McCall hit the first home run of his career in the ninth inning. He also walked once, reaching safely in both of his plate appearances.
  • It was the 24th home run for Rhode Island through 15 games. McCall is already the 10th different Ram to go deep this year.
  • Redshirt junior Addison Kopack doubled, walked twice and scored a run.
  • Freshman Connor Grotyohann singled twice, was hit by a pitch and scored once.
  • Grotyohann also pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two batters.
  • Freshman Michael Anderson doubled and drove in one run.
  • Redshirt freshmen Brandon Hsu and Gavin Crowley each pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
