Rhode Island took the trip to Smithfield Friday to compete at the Bryant Black & Gold Invitational. The Rams competed in two throwing events in the first day of the two-day meet.

Highlights from Competition

• Dante Caouette was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 47' 11" (14.60m). Nick Morse had a throw of 44' 1.25" (13.44m) for 12th. 
• Johnathan Buchanan placed second in the hammer after throwing 184' 7" (56.26m). Alex Baez was fifth (169' 10") and Nathan Field was 13th (150' 7").
