Tragesser, DiPetrillo Make Moves on Second Day of Cutter Creek

Results

SNOW HILL, N.C.
 - Redshirt freshman Chuck Tragesser was one of just eight golfers to shoot one-over par or better on the second day of the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, leading the Rhode Island contingent Saturday. Seniors Andrew DiPetrillo and Bryson Richards also had solid days for the Rams.

Tragesser was one of the biggest movers on Day Two of the tournament, as he charged 33 spots up the leader board with a plus-3 73.  In a round in which he had four of URI's 10 birdies, Tragesser ended the day in a tie for 34th overall.

DiPetrillo moved into the top 20, finishing the day in a tie for 18th place overall. He moved up 20 spots by making 12 pars and two birdies for the day. DiPetrillo is just one shot behind Richards, who is tied for 10th with a score of 149 over the first two rounds.

Elon's Matt Doyle leads the field with a three-under 141, followed by Jacksonville State's Ross Napier's minus-2 142.

Jacksonville State remains in command of the team standings, nine strokes in front of the field. Rhode Island is tied for eighth heading into the final day. Radford (598), Delaware (599), Richmond (601), Old Dominion (603), Rhode Island (604) and Gardner-Webb (604) are all separated by just five strokes with one round to go.

Head Coach Gregg Burke Said...
"This was the day to really move up and we just couldn't get it going. We only made 10 birdies and Chuck had four of them.  We also made nine doubles, which is very hard to overcome.

"We talked about better par-three scoring and even though the wind was so severe, we were 11 better today than yesterday. The scores for the field were so high because the wind was 20-25 non-stop all day. There were gusts that reached 40 mph.

"I can only repeat that we came down here to find a strong number three and number four moving forward. We're starting to see who those too four are. Chuck and Andrew played wonderful rounds of golf and I think we'll see others do that and better tomorrow."
