STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Rhode Island's Bryson Richards was the medalist at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, shooting a 3-under 68 in the final round to top the 75-player field Sunday.

Richards and Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti both finished with an overall score of 207 to tie atop the leaderboard. Richards was two strokes better than Delisanti in the final round, as he drained five birdies in the round.

Richards' performance helped Rhode Island tie for fourth place in the 12-team tournament. Rhody was 3-over as a team on Sunday, the third-best team score of the day. Host Penn State won the tournament, finishing one stroke ahead of Valparaiso. Georgetown, Rhode Island and Appalachian State rounded out the top five.

Brandon Gillis was solid throughout the three rounds and placed 13 th overall. Chuck Tragesser fired a 1-under par in the final round to move up 17 spots on the final day and tie for 39th overall. Aidan O'Donovan (t-46th) and Andrew DiPretrillo (t-53rd) rounded out the Rhody scorers.

"I am really proud of Bryson, but not surprised. This has been coming all semester. This is his fifth tournament and his worst finish is seventh.
 
"Brandon was off by just a little and still had great scores. He will be dangerous at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
 
"Geronimo was terrific over the three rounds and absolutely made a statement.
 
"Chuck was not good the first two rounds but turned it on today. Aidan had a good tournament even though he struggled today. College golf isn't easy.  Andrew was solid as well.
 
"We scheduled up to be here and it truly showed who we are as team and individually."
