NEWPORT, R.I. - Rhode Island's regular season ended with a 4-0 loss to Massachusetts Saturday night.
Playing at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, the Rams (6-16, 2-4 Atlantic 10) picked up a doubles win in the third slot, where
Priyanka Shanker and
Nikki Fernando paired up for a 6-4 victory over Thamonpan Jonglertrakul and Dylan Cannon. However, Massachusetts won the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to grab the team point. With the win, Shanker and Fernando improved to 8-2 together.
The Minutewomen (11-6, 5-1 A-10) clinched the team victory with straight set wins at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Both schools head to the Atlantic 10 Championship next week. Held in Lake Nona, Fla., the four-day championship begins Thursday, April 27.
