KINGSTON, R.I. –
Rhode Island will be the No. 7 seed and face No. 10 Duquesne in the opening round of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The Rams and Dukes will play at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the USTA National Campus courts in Orlando, Fla. The winner will advance to face No. 2 Fordham Friday.

The first three rounds of the championship will be streamed through the USTA website's Playsight system, which allows viewers to select the court they wish to watch. Admission will be free for the A-10 Championships. Sunday's championship final will be streamed on ESPN+.

Teams will play a best-of-seven scoring system, with play halted as soon as one team reached four team points. Doubles action consists of three doubles matches, with the team point going to the school that reaches two doubles wins first. The doubles matches are all six-game pro sets.

Singles matches are best-of-three-set matches, with each match worth one team point.

For the 10th consecutive season, VCU will be the top seed in the tournament. Winner of eight of the last nine A-10 championships, the Rams lock down a first-round bye as the top seed in the tournament. Also getting first-round byes are No. 2 Fordham and No. 3 Massachusetts.

The winner of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
