How it Happened
Rhode Island picked up its first tie of the season Thursday, playing Boston University to a scoreless draw on the road.
Rhody was limited to one shot in the first half, a blast from Emma Kirkpatrick in the 44th minute. The host Terriers had six corner kicks in the first 45 minutes of play, but couldn't connect as Faith Hutchins stopped three shots.
The Rams closed the half with back-to-back corners of their own, but the teams went into the break knotted scoreless.
Rhode Island picked up its offense in the second half, tacking on three more shots including one on the frame by Megan Steinbach in the 85th minute. It wasn't enough for the Rams, as Celia Braun made the stop to send the Rams home with a tie.
