RHODE ISLAND VS. HOLY CROSS - SERIES NOTES
- Tuesday night marks the 16th meeting all time between Rhode Island and Holy Cross in a series that dates all the way back to 1965.
- Rhode Island leads the all-time series, 14-2.
- The teams last met in 2019, when Rhode Island won, 3-1, behind one goal and one assist from Edvin Akselsen. In two matches against the Crusaders, Akselsen had three goals and one assist.
- This is the first visit to Kingston for Holy Cross since 2018, when URI won 3-0.
- The Rams have won three straight in the series.Â
- Holy Cross is coming off back-to-back losses, falling 4-0 to Bryant on Sept. 5 and 3-1 at Dartmouth Sept. 9.
- The match will be the first in eight days for Rhode Island. URI has not officially played since its 2-1 loss to Providence on Sept. 4. URI began a match at Central Connecticut State on Sept. 8, but play was halted midway through the first half due to inclement weather.
- This is URI's final match before the start of Atlantic 10 play. Rhody visits Dayton on Saturday, Sept. 16.
RAMS AMONG THE NATION'S STINGIEST DEFENSESÂ Â
- With three shutouts in its first four matches, Rhode Island is ranked No. 6 in the country in shutout percentage at .750.
- Only Bryant and San Diego State have yet to allow any goals this season. The other schools ranked ahead of URI are Green Bay, West Virginia and Wisconsin, each of whom has four shutouts in five matches.Â
- Rhode Island is 12th nationally in goal-against average at .500. The Rams are second among Atlantic 10 schools, trailing only Davidson's .333.
- The Rams allowed two goals in Monday's loss to Providence, the only two goals the defense has allowed this year.
